It’s no secret that women love shoes! Over the last few years there has been a certain shoe that a shoe fanatic must have in her closet. For some the shoes are known as Louboutins, others Christians, or simply Red Bottoms. Whatever you call them there is no denying how they make you feel!
But where did this all start? InParisof course! In 1981 Louboutin showed a portfolio of his elaborate high heel drawings to top couture houses. Of course he was employed and shortly thereafter began designing women shoes for Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent and Maude Frizon as a freelance designer. In 1991 he opened a shoe salon inPariswith Princess Caroline ofMonacoas his first customer.
Christian Louboutin is credited with helping bring stilettos back into fashion in the 1990s and 2000’s. The designers professional goal is to “make a woman look sexy, beautiful, to make her legs look as long as he can.” Well he does just that! His single biggest client is Author Danielle Steel, who is reputed to own over a whooping 6000 pair and made a purchase up to 80 pair at one time! Now that’s balling!
There’s no question that her red bottoms are authentic Louboutins but others might not be! The success of red bottoms would make anybody want a piece of the cut but not so fast, Yves Saint Laurent. In August 2011 he filed a trademark infringement of its red soled shoes against designer Yves Saint Laurent, the company he designed for in the beginning of his career.
The case is not as open and close as one would think. But we all know that the ultimate Red Bottoms purchase would be those of luxury French shoe and bag designer, Christian Louboutin! Oh you didn’t know he designed hand bags?
